The first thing to note on the front cover is the Parental Advisory Explicit Content which is placed in a clear position to the bottom of the case so it does not obscure the vision of the image and it is a large image so that it catches the attention of the buyer. The image which is used is of an abandoned house which is accompanied by a rather bland colour scheme. The house is actually the one in which he lived in during his teenage years causing him to have a personal attachment to this album and the house. The black and white colour suggests that his songs are quite dark and as the genre is rap, it suggests that this is the case. The positioning of the parental advisory logo and Eminem's logo are both in opposite corners to each other further suggesting that the house holds as an iconic point. In Eminem's logo the 2 is red in colour which makes it clearly stand out as being his next album.
The back cover of his album follows the same colour scheme with black and white which further connotes that this is personal to him because of his love for rap and it is often related to being quite dark and fast. The names of his songs are clearly positioned in the middle of his cover, with the names of his songs also relating close to the connotation of the theme of dark. The title of one of his songs is *** Hole, which clearly shows that swearing has been used and in doing so the black and white colour scheme suits this title well.
The inside cover of the album contains another image of the house but a close up with Eminem being present connoting further personal attachment to this album, the colours are still black and white although Eminem is actually seen to be wearing black clothing which connotes that he has quite a dark past and he uses his rapping to escape from this past which the colours and the house relate too. The CD itself is positioned to the right and for the first time in this album cover it is not black and white and in fact it is black and gold, which suggests that the music from the CD will shine some light onto people's lives just like Eminem's life.
