YouTube is probably the most modern platform to view music videos on because of its ease and accessibility for everybody. Artists are able to upload their music onto the website and people can instantly watch it on many devices such as games consoles, smart TV's, tablets, phones or computers. This allows so many people access to the site and increases views for the artists hugely.
TV channels such as 4 Music show music videos regularly. There are often shows which show both old music videos and also the new top 40. This means that there is a wide variety of music videos from many different genres and time periods.
Vevo is an advertising company that is owned by several different big record companies and is where artists publish their music videos on Vevo which use YouTube as a video streaming site to share their videos to the world and gather large advertising payments.
With more devices and websites to watch music videos on does come with the negative point of piracy. There are websites where you can illegally download the song or even the whole video to your computer. This can then be transferred onto devices such as phones or even in extreme cases, it could be burned to a CD and illegally sold.
Of course the biggest music distributor is Apple's iTunes. This is the website which allows users all over the world to buy music or even music videos and download them straight to their Apple device. This is a flawless streaming service which works very well and has been active for many years, ever since the first iPhones and iPod Touches were released. Apple also recently released its new service called Apple music which rivals Spotify in direct access to a large variety of music as a subscription based service where you pay so much a month and listen to unlimited music, opposed to buying each individual song every time new ones come out or even illegally downloading them.
