For the idea that we had created about a person being bullied and training hard to buff themselves up so that they can cope with this in a physical way, we began to try and think of locations which were quite dark and suited this storyline. We also had to keep in mind that these locations had to be relatively local because of filming purposes and we thought that we could also perhaps be more productive with our filming if we were allowed to leave school site and film during the day. Whilst scouting for locations I decided to take photos of the locations to clearly show the setting and what sort of shots could be used.
The first location which we looked at was an underpass. In our video we are planning to have a scene in which one of our actors is beaten up by bullies. This underpass was wide enough for what we wanted to do and also the lighting is not too bright to take the edge off of things. However, we did have to bare in mind that this is a very popular and frequently used walkway, meaning that we could get interrupted whilst filming quite a lot making it quite a long and drawn out process.
Another location in which we looked at for this fighting scene was an alleyway near to our school. It was a great setting for what we wanted to film because the of the negative representations which associate alleyways with crime. However, the alleyway was not very wide at all and with an idea that we had brainstormed of a panoramic shot would not worked for this very narrow environment.
Another location which we knew would be perfect for us was a place which had a punching bag available to use. We originally thought a gym but we believed that this would actually be far too bright and colourful. We therefore brainstormed and thought that a garage would be a much more suited location with it being a lot darker and quite greyish in colour which portrayed the kind of mood and atmosphere that we wanted to convey. We thought that we did not really have to clear anything out of the garage either because it would give it a much more natural look if there were things such as gardening and car equipment naturally placed in the background.
